Ferries to Koh Lipe: Route Map

Accessing this remote island at the southern edge of Thailand involves a long-distance speedboat trip from Pak Bara or an international crossing from Langkawi, Malaysia, managed by Bundhaya and Satun Pakbara Speed Boat. These passenger-only ferries are the only way to reach the island, which sits inside the Tarutao National Marine Park. As the coastal ferry map indicates, there is no deep-water pier here; instead, large ferries moor offshore at a floating platform, requiring a secondary transfer by local long-tail boat to reach the beach.

Visitor Volume & Mode Comparison

  • The Langkawi Link: Lipe acts as an international border. You can take a ferry directly to Langkawi (Malaysia). Immigration is a shack on Pattaya Beach. Passports are collected by the captain and returned on land.
  • Low Season: From May to Oct, the only way in is via Pak Bara Pier (Satun mainland). The sea crossing is rough, and only specialized speedboats run.
