Ferries to Koh Lipe: Route Map
Accessing this remote island at the southern edge of Thailand involves a long-distance speedboat trip from Pak Bara or an international crossing from Langkawi, Malaysia, managed by Bundhaya and Satun Pakbara Speed Boat. These passenger-only ferries are the only way to reach the island, which sits inside the Tarutao National Marine Park. As the coastal ferry map indicates, there is no deep-water pier here; instead, large ferries moor offshore at a floating platform, requiring a secondary transfer by local long-tail boat to reach the beach.

Thailand’s Maldives: Ko Lipe seasonal access
Ko Lipe is the end of the line. Located in Tarutao National Marine Park, it has no cars and no pier for large ships. Logistics here are defined by the “Floating Platform” transfer.
| Arrival Point | Operators | Logistics Score |
|---|---|---|
| Pattaya Beach (Floating Platform) |
Bundhaya, Satun Pakbara | The Wet Landing: Ferries dock at a floating pontoon offshore. You transfer to a small longtail boat (50 THB fee) to reach the beach. You will get your feet wet. |
Visitor Volume & Mode Comparison
- The Langkawi Link: Lipe acts as an international border. You can take a ferry directly to Langkawi (Malaysia). Immigration is a shack on Pattaya Beach. Passports are collected by the captain and returned on land.
- Low Season: From May to Oct, the only way in is via Pak Bara Pier (Satun mainland). The sea crossing is rough, and only specialized speedboats run.
